It seems Punxsutawney Phil was right, spring is here! I decided to don my striped dress with a collared white button up as an alternative to a light jacket. It’s always chilly in the morning and dislike having to carry around bulky clothing when it gets warm later in the day. I’m usually not a fan of striped clothing, however, this season, its seems that I’ve turned over a new leaf. What I like about this dress is that the fabric is a washed linen making it soft and light. In addition, the direction of the stripes on the dress compliments the area its placed. The vertical stripes elongate my short torso and legs [rule of thumb – avoid wide striped tops as it’ll make your torso appear wider]. Wearing a tied button up shirt can make it appear as if you were wearing a skirt, adding versatility to the dress. It also creates an illusion of a smaller waist.
The light hues of the ensemble made my cognac tote and wedges statement pieces, as it added a pop of color. The tote is one of my favorites, not just because of the color, but it’s also reversible with a khaki side, subtle red stitching, and A&F gold labeling. The girls at work thought it was a Kate Spade bag! In addition, my Vince Camuto wedges are not only a gorgeous pair of footwear with its woven upper leather and lower straw, but they’re comfortable! When heels aren’t conducive to the activity or event you are going to, wedges are the way to go. This outfit was perfect for tea with Aaron where we also enjoyed my favorite, french macarons.
